Welcome to the Grand Avenue State School Parents and Citizens Association (P&C).
The P&C works alongside the school to ensure the school is well supported to cater to the learning and development needs of our students. The P&C provide additional resources for all students such as play equipment, shade covers, and many more materials as required.
Joining your P&C Association is a great way for you to support the school community understand how the school operates and an opportunity to share in the school's decision-making process to shape the future of our school. See Membership Form below.
All profits raised by the P&C are utilised to supplement or improve your children's education, wellbeing, and enjoyment of school facilities.
Meetings
We encourage all parents and guardians to attend our General Meetings which occur every third Tuesday of the school term. Communication and notifications are detailed in the school Newsletter and on our Facebook page. If you're interested in voting in our meetings, please ensure you complete the membership form and submit to the Secretary. All families and community members are welcome to attend and contribute to meetings but membership is required to vote at the meeting.
Canteen
The canteen provides the option of purchasing food for your children and complies with “Smart Choices". This is an initiative of the Department of Education & Training and Queensland Health, ensuring that the products offered are low in salt, fat and when available, are preservative and colour free. We have Red Days throughout the year where we can sell foods that do not comply with these regulations. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page and the school newsletter for upcoming dates.
Lunch orders for First and Second break can be placed via Flexischools. We also offer Birthday cupcakes or ice blocks for your child's class to help celebrate. Please note lead time on these items. www.flexischools.com.au.
Uniform Shop
During school terms, the Uniform Shop is open daily from 8:15am to 9:30am. At the end and beginning of the school year, extra opening hours will be available, and details will be posted on the Facebook page and placed in the Prep Welcome pack.
Cash and EFTPOS are available. Uniforms can also be ordered online via Flexischools www.flexischools.com.au. Uniforms ordered this way are given to the child's teacher and sent home with the child.
Outside of School Hours Care
We offer both before and after school care as well as vacation care through our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service for families with enrolled students. Please make contact via email oshc@grandavenuess.eq.edu.au or phone 3278 9830, for more information. If you require this service, I advise you to contact OSHC as soon as you enrol as the limited places can fill quickly.
Fundraising
Fundraising for the P&C takes on many forms and adapts each year. In the past we have run events such as Mother / Father's Day Stalls, school fete, market events, sausage sizzles etc. Flyers for events will be sent home and posted on our Facebook page in the lead up. Please keep an eye out for upcoming events and feel free to join our fundraising committee or volunteer at our events to help improve the school facilities and help you to become involved in our school community.
How you can get involved
We are always looking at new ideas and projects so come and have your say in what these should be and how we can do them. Everyone is welcome.
Our P&C Volunteers play a very important role in our school community, it might be helping in the school canteen, coming along to an event, or assisting with a raffle. Many hands make light work, and we encourage anyone who wants to be more involved to attend our P&C meetings or reach out to one of our Executive Committee members.
