Prep:
Nudgee Beach:
Each year our prep students visit the Nudgee Beach Environmental Centre. 'Little Things Matter' is the core focus for students as they use their senses to interact with the flora and fauna of Nudgee Beach through a variety of hands on activities. The students will gain a greater understanding of how the environment provides the basic needs of living things (food, water, air, shelter) and make predictions on the consequences of simple environmental changes on living things.
Swimming Lessons:
During

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary:
During Term 2, year 1 students visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Lone Pine's 'Backyard Explorer' creates a journey of discovery while introducing diets, habitats, adaptations and plenty of problem solving. Students are challenged to use their new Backyard Explorer knowledge to piece together animal clues like scale sheds, footprints and food sources to learn which animals may be living in their backyards.
StarLab:
During the year, students in Year 1 also attend a starlab incursion. Students experience a simulation of sunrise, sunset, day and night to see stars, planets, the moon and constellations. Students are taken on a virtual trip into space to see the planets close up with the full dome show 'secret of the cardboard rocket' or alternatively, discover how the seams work with Annie, Max and their robot Kelvin in 'TILT'.
